US ARMY MACKINAW COAT
Originally introduced in the 1940s for U.S. Army motorized troops, the Mackinaw coat — often called the "Jeep Coat" — was designed to provide warmth and weather resistance during cold climate operations. Worn over uniforms, it offered full upper-body coverage while maintaining a shorter cut for ease of movement inside vehicles.
Constructed from a heavy cotton outer shell and lined with wool, the coat features a double-breasted closure, wide notched collar, waist belt with metal buckle, adjustable cuff tabs, and large flap pockets. Its iconic silhouette and rugged construction made it a staple among field officers and transport units alike.
