FRENCH ARMY RAIN SMOCK
DESCRIPTION
Issued to the French Army for field use, this PVC rain smock was designed as a lightweight outer shell to provide protection in wet conditions. Its simple over-the-head anorak style ensured quick wearability in sudden downpours, while the loose fit allowed it to be layered over combat uniforms and gear.
Constructed from heavy-duty waterproof PVC, it features a drawstring hood with an extended visor, elasticated cuffs, and a large front chest pocket with storm flap. The pullover design reduces openings where water could enter, keeping soldiers dry in training exercises or field operations.
Functional, durable, and unmistakably utilitarian, this piece is both a practical rain layer and a collectible example of late 20th-century French military equipment.
